Lee Hae-in finishes 8th in women’s singles figure skating

MILAN — Figure skater Lee Hae-in notched a top-10 finish in her Winter Games debut in Italy on Thursday, earning her best marks of the season in both the free skate and the total score in the process. Lee finished eighth in the women’s singles with 210.56 points after receiving 140.49 points in the free skate at Milano Ice Skating Arena in Milan. She had 70.07 points in Tuesday’s short program. Skating to “Carmen Suite No. 1” by Georges Bizet, Lee opened her free program with a clean double axel-triple toe loop combination. The 20-year-old landed all of her jumps cleanly and scored the maximum Level 4 on all three of her spins and her step sequence late in the program. Lee earned 74.15 points in the technical element score (TES) for her execution of technical elements and 66.34 points in the program component score (PCS) for her artistry and choreography. Shin Ji-a, the other South Korean on the ice, finished 11th with 206.68 points, just 1.77 points off her season best.
