Bentley launches the Bentayga with a long wheelbase

Bentley will also offer the Bentayga with a long wheelbase in the future. In order to increase the comfort in the rear, the luxurious off-road vehicle will also go on sale as an Extended Wheelbase (EWB) in the last quarter. The manufacturer calls 18 centimeters more center distance and thus more legroom in the rear.

At the same time, the company is using the additional space for a new seating configuration and installing recliners on request. With 22-fold electric adjustment, leg rest and footrest and an air conditioning system that automatically adjusts to the respective passenger. As a design effect, there are leather consoles illuminated from behind.

The driver should be aware of the new format, which is growing to at least 5.32 meters, as little as possible. Bentley wants to achieve this for the first time with active rear-axle steering. It reduces the turning circle. This should make the Bentayga EWB more manageable to control than the standard model.

The engine is initially powered by the 4.0-litre V8 engine with 404 kW / 550 hp. This accelerates the SUV from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/ h within 4.6 seconds. A maximum of 290 km / h should be possible. Bentley has not yet specified fuel consumption figures.

Although Bentley wants to sell almost every second Bentayga with a long wheelbase in the medium term, it is excluding some markets for the time being: among other things in Europe, the XXL off-road vehicle is to be offered later, if at all, the British say.
