While things are slowly improving, there isn’t a large pool of female producers to close the gap. That said, Producer McKenzie Van Dorne-Rice seems to be that breakout powerhouse woman that Hollywood has been looking for.
Liquid Studios Entertainment West, with McKenzie at the helm, has recently acquired dozens of intellectual properties slated to become TV shows, Films, and Animated Series. Her biggest project boasts a budget in the $100 million plus range and will begin filming in New Zealand.
“I feel so elated to be in this position. Hollywood has embraced me and I feel a responsibility, as a woman, to lead the way for other females in the entertainment industry,” says McKenzie.
McKenzie started as a talent manager with over 100 actors on her roster and has recently transitioned to producing, “I saw the changes coming to Hollywood. I recognized how competing streaming platforms have created a desperate need for content. I decided to dive right in and I haven’t looked back.”
As a Producer, McKenzie Van Dorne-Rice, has won over 34 awards for her environmental film with Richard Chamberlain. She has recently partnered with Producer Zach Thomson on several upcoming projects.
