Brother killed with poisoned banana porridge: verdict expected
In a murder trial at the district court of Cologne, the verdict is expected on Wednesday (11.00 am). According to the indictment, a 63-year-old woman is said to have murdered her mentally and physically severely impaired older brother in September 2021 after two road accidents with a drug cocktail in banana porridge.
The German had admitted on the first day of the trial that she had prepared the poisoned porridge. However, her brother wanted to die and ate the meal himself. As a motive, the woman had stated that she had wanted to spare him “decades of infirmity” in a nursing home. After a change of care at the brother, such a move was imminent.
The prosecutor’s office is demanding a life sentence for insidious murder. The defense sees no insidiousness at work, but does not demand a concrete punishment.
