Investigators on Friday referred three civilian suspects to prosecutors on criminal charges of involvement in drone flights to North Korea. The joint team of police and military investigators sent the case to the prosecution on charges of benefiting the enemy and violating laws on aviation safety and military installation protection, according to a police press notice. It accused the three individuals of flying drones into North Korea a total of four times — once last September, twice last November and in January this year. The joint investigation was launched shortly after North Korea claimed in January that South Korea infringed on its sovereignty with drone incursions in September and on Jan. 4.
