361 Children missing in Bavaria

Several hundred children are missing in Bavaria. As of May 16, there were 361 children under the age of 14, as the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (BLKA) announced on Tuesday. Wednesday is Missing Children’s Day. Many of the missing – specifically 157 – are unaccompanied minor refugees, according to the police. A large part of them came to Germany in 2015 and 2016.

According to the police, 99 of the missing children are “runaways who repeatedly run away and come back again”; 94 were deprived of their parents or guardian, for example, because of disputes over custody. In addition, the police suspect homicides at a low double-digit number.

In 2021, there were a total of 929 missing children in Bavaria during the year; 859 cases were solved. in 2020, there were 824 missing children with 780 cases resolved.
