Hundreds of Koreans brought home on chartered flights from typhoon-hit Saipan

Hundreds of Koreans have been brought home aboard chartered flights from typhoon-hit Saipan, foreign ministry officials said Tuesday. A total of 228 nationals arrived in Korea on Monday and Tuesday aboard two direct T’way Air flights from Saipan arranged for their return, officials said. They had been stranded in Saipan after Typhoon Sinlaku tore through the territory last week, disrupting electricity, water and communications services, as well as airport and airline operations. A Korean mission in Guam has supplied essential supplies to Korean nationals in Saipan since Sunday, when flight services resumed, the ministry said.
