In the summer, there will again be cancellations or delays on the S-Bahn

Because the railway also wants to repair routes and tracks in the network of the Stuttgart S-Bahn this summer, tens of thousands of commuters will need to be patient again during the holidays. This applies in particular to routes via the districts of Zuffenhausen and Feuerbach, Vaihingen and Rohr as well as on the Stuttgart tunnel trunk route. “Due to extensive construction work, there are changes in the timetable offer here in the summer months,” Deutsche Bahn announced on Tuesday.

Among other things, there are to be major schedule changes on the main line in the city center this year, because the railway, according to its own information, will begin the digitization of the Stuttgart railway junction during the summer holidays. About 400 kilometers of new cable lines would be laid, the railway said. In addition, several stations are to be modernized. For this purpose, the tunnel between Hauptbahnhof (tief) and Stuttgart-Vaihingen will be closed. Stations such as Stadtmitte, Feuersee, Schwabstraße, Universität and Österfeld are not served. On all S-Bahn lines, trains run every half hour, the journey times will be longer between July 30 and September 11.
