North Korea fires multiple missiles

Shortly after the US president ended his trip to Asia, missile tests were carried out by North Korea. This is reported by South Korean sources. They are ballistic missiles.

North Korea has continued its missile tests. According to its neighbor South Korea, North Korea fired three suspected ballistic missiles in the direction of the Sea of Japan (Korean: East Sea) on Wednesday, as the Yonhap news agency reported, citing the South Korean military.

The projectiles were shot down from Sunan near the North Korean capital Pyongyang. No further details were immediately available. On Tuesday, at the end of his trip to Asia, US President Joe Biden stressed the US commitment to security in South Korea and Japant.

UN resolutions prohibit North Korea from testing ballistic missiles, which, depending on the design, can also carry a nuclear warhead. North Korea has tested missiles several times since the beginning of this year, including an intercontinental ballistic missile. Pyongyang has been advancing the development of nuclear-capable missiles for years. The country is therefore subject to severe international sanctions.
